Jan has been tired most of the day. Her abdomen was drained for the fifth day in a row-again more than 1200cc. So she slept for most of the day. The hospice nurse increased the Decadron medication by 4 miligrams a day hoping that the increase will help improve Jan's alertness and balance. A new pain medication was also added, morphine droplets which are placed under the tongue. They provide relief from pain quicker than the oxycodone pills she is currently taking.

Before the hospice nurse arrived, we were able to enjoy a short walk to the corner and back, and Jan happily devoured two popsicles later in the evening.

This was a quality day in that Jan didn't experience any pain and was able to enjoy the walk and the popsicles. The whole is indeed greater than the sum of its parts.

Today was a good day...

    Hi Jan,
I am so glad you had a pain free day. May you have many more. I sure am glad I was able to stop by and visit with you. It was nice catching up on everything. You are always in my thoughts and prays.
    Love you,
